WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Messiah men's swimming team dropped a pair of duals with the King's Monarchs and Arcadia King's in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday afternoon. Messiah fell to the Knights 172-85 while also dropping their dual with the host Monarchs by a 173-83 final.

Tyler Wilkinson earned the only victory for the men on the afternoon by claiming the 200 Back in a time of 2:01.30, taking the event by more than three seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.

In addition to his victory in the 200 Back, Wilkinson finished in third-place in the 50 Free with a time of 23.08. Surrounded by juniors and seniors, Wilkinson was the only underclassman in the top-five of the event. Wilkinson was also part of a pair of second-place relay teams, teaming up with Anthony Pompei, Ridge Hagar, and Daniel Logan to take second in the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 1:41.90. That same crew combined for another second-place finish in the 400 Free Relay.

Their time of 3:20.41 was lower than the previous pool record, but they were out touched at the wall by a team from Arcadia (3:20.38) by just three one-hundredths of a second to finish in second.

Daniel Logan took home second place in both the 200 and 500 Free with times of 1:48.42 and 5:02.39, respectively. Logan finished runner-up to Arcadia's TJ Dalton (1:48.21) in the 200 Free by just over two tenths of a second. His second-place finish in the 500 Free came with a late pass of Arcadia's Michael Melissen. In the final 150 yards, Logan made his move from third to second and turned in the fastest final split (28.69) of anyone in the field by nearly a second.

Sophomore Ridge Hagar nearly matched Logan with a pair of second-place finishes, but was edged out in the 100 Free by .01. He did earn a runner-up finish in the 100 Back with a time of 55.69, just a quarter of a second behind King's Bryce Goshardt (55.45) for first. In the 100 Free, Hagar took third with a time of 49.64. Arcadia's Mark Preedy (49.63) snatched second out of his hands by just one hundredth of a second.

The Falcons move to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference after Saturday's results. Messiah will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 18 in their first home event of the season when they host the Stevenson Mustangs and Immaculata Mighty Macs at 5:00 p.m.
