Falcons Perform Well at Lebanon Valley

Results

The men and women's track and field team competed at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Indoor Invitational today with seven Falcons putting up top-three performances against the field.

In the 800m, freshmen Gabriel Tiday and senior Dale Lingle finished in third and fourth with times of 2:23.47 and 2:24.35, respectively. 

Messiah had three men compete in the 3000m with Matt Higgs highlighting the Falcons' effort, finishing in third-place with a time of 10:06.85. Derek Guissanie finsihed in fifth-place with a time of 10:20.64 with Mario Cosentino coming through the line shortly after in a time of 10:49.98.

In the women's 3000m, sophomore Ally Austen finished in third-place with a time of 11:47.09. Austen's time was just .08 short of the second-place finisher. Austen's 11:47.09 was a season best, just 11 seconds short of her personal best.

In the women's shot put, Alyssa McMinn came in third-place with a throw of 11.85m. Taylor Wiederrecht finished in ninth-place with a throw of 9.94m.

In the heptathlon, Caleb Puleo finished first against Division III competitors with a score of 3971, just five points short of his personal best. Puleo's performance started with personal bests in the 55m dash (6.94 seconds), long jump (6.10m), and the shot put (10.70m). Puleo also jumped a new personal best of 3.55m in the pole vault. 

In the pentathlon, Hannah Reed took first-place with a score of 2119. Samantha Derkas also competed in the pentathlon, accumulating 1816 points, good for second-place. Reed collected just over a two foot personal best in the long jump to highlight her performance today. Derkas set a personal best in shot put by just over a foot to highlight her performance.
