Musser Strikes Twice, Falcons Drop Bullets

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Falcons defeated the Gettysburg Bullets 4-0 after Kristen Musser struck in the fifth minute and again in the 14th minute to lead the offense. Hannah Palm found the back of the cage in the 40th minute after taking a pass from Taylor Wiederrecht. Wiederrecht assisted on the final goal of the game, feeding Ashlyn Smith in the 59th minute to cap off the 4-0 victory over the Bullets.

Messiah held a 15-9 advantage in shots, putting 11 on frame while holding Gettysburg to just three on frame. Gettysburg held the 9-7 edge in corners, earning five in the third period.

The Falcons are now 7-4 on the season and will travel to Stevenson University on Oct. 12 at 1:00 p.m.

All Aboard The Muss Bus
Kristen Musser was electric on Anderson Field from the start. The Falcons first threat of the night came off a corner just 4:27 into the contest. Mackenzie Brubaker ripped a shot from the corner but the Bullets' goalie was there to make the save. Brubaker's shot was deflected around the circle and Kristen Musser scooped it up and slotted it into the back of the cage to give Messiah a 1-0 victory just 4:37 into the contest.

Gettysburg responded with two of their own shots but both attempts failed to make a difference. Closing out the first period, the Falcons put on the pressure with three corners and two shots. In the 14th minute, Kristen Musser rode her momentum from the fifth minute and doubled the Falcons' lead to 2-0 after redirecting a pass from Jess Davis straight into the cage.

Holding Off Pressure
After a quiet second period, the Falcons took two shots to open up the second half but it was the Bullets who laid on the pressure. In a span of 57 seconds, the Bullets recorded four penalty corners that resulted in a total of four shots but two attempts were sent wide with one being blocked and one being saved by Megan Bomba

On The Board Again
After Gettysburg's set of corners, Hannah Palm took a pass across the middle from Taylor Wiederrecht and took a shot to increase the Falcons' lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute.

Capping It Off
Megan Bomba kept the Bullets off the board with a save in the 52nd minute when Gettysburg earned a corner and fired a shot on frame.

Kristen Musser went for the hat trick in the 56th minute but her strike was saved by the Bullets' goalie. Minutes later, Ashlyn Smith took a shot that was blocked but Smith would not be denied as she took a big swing from the top of the circle on a corner to give Messiah the 4-0 victory over Gettysburg.
