Four Falcons Recognized In MAC Weekly Awards

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced their weekly awards this morning and Messiah had four athletes represented after winning three conference championships Saturday. Megan Zimmerman, Emily Knepp, Nate Flanders, and Ellie Lengacher were represented in the awards. Knepp, Flanders, and Lengacher were recognized as the conference tournament MVP's after their play in their respective MAC Commonwealth tournaments. Zimmerman helped lead Messiah to a 2-0 start on the court in their Tip-Off Tournament.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week - Megan Zimmerman
Megan Zimmerman helped the Falcons to a 2-0 opening weekend with wins over Penn State Lehigh Valley (71-31) and Christopher Newport (74-50). Zimmerman recorded four blocks, one steal, 19 rebounds (12 defensive) while adding eight points in the win over PSU Lehigh Valley. The sophomore then recorded two steals, 12 rebounds (10 defensive) to go with 17 points and two assists against CNU.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week - Emily Knepp
Emily Knepp earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Knepp was named the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey Championship MVP after leading the Falcons to their 18th MAC Commonwealth title on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Lebanon Valley. The senior scored the title game's first goal in the 15th minute of play. Knepp also scored a goal in the semifinal 5-1 win over Arcadia on Wednesday.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week - Nate Flanders
Nate Flanders was named the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer Championship MVP after leading the Falcons to their 15th MAC Commonwealth title on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Lycoming. Flanders finished the tournament with 11 saves on 24 shots faced. In the title game, the senior made nine saves on 16 shots faced. In a 4-0 semifinal win over Stevenson, Flanders made two saves on eight shots faced.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week - Ellie Lengacher
Ellie Lengacher was named the 2019 MAC Commonwealth Women's Soccer Championship MVP after leading the Falcons to their 17th MAC Commonwealth title on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Arcadia. Lengacher recorded three shots in the title game where Messiah outshot the Knights, 17-12. The senior recorded an assist in the 6-0 win over Albright in the semifinal.
