LEXINGTON, Ky. - On Thursday morning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their All-Region teams and among the honorees were a pair of Falcons.
Mary Underman was named to the Mid-Atlantic Region team, the second honor of her career, while
Kristen Seibert was noted as an Honorable Mention.
Underman was previously named to the All-Region team after her sophomore season and was included as an Honorable Mention during her freshman season in Grantham. This year's Honorable Mention nod is the first such honor for Seibert.
Underman, the three-time First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honoree, was stellar during her senior season as a middle hitter for the Falcons. She finished the year with a career-high 348 kills and an exceptional .390 hitting percentage; both were team highs for the Falcons. Not only was her .390 hitting percentage tops on the team, but ranks as the 14th-best nationally. Additionally, Underman was a force in the middle, controlling the net with 76 total blocks on the year, second on the team.
Joining Underman with All-Regional honors was junior setter
Kristen Seibert, earning an Honorable Mention nod. In her first year with the Falcons, Seibert dished out a total of 993 assists for a 9.64 assists per set average, 36th-best in the country this season. Seibert was also sneaky on the attack, collecting 72 kills on setter dumps for a solid .271 hitting percentage. The Honorable Mention All-Region accolade comes on the heels of a First Team All-Conference honor.
Messiah finished their season with an overall record of 25-7, advancing to the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals as the third seed.
