GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah men's swim team hosted the Arcadia Knights in a conference dual Saturday afternoon at Fredricksen Natatorium. The Falcons claimed top spot in eight individual events, however would split the relays and would ultimately tie the Knights, 131-131.
Tyler Wilkinson would lead the charge for the Falcons taking first place in the 200 Free (1:49.48) and 500 Free (5:02.50) while also swimming anchor in the 200 Free Relay that took top place. He also swam the anchor leg in the 200 Medley Relay that claimed second.
It was a pair of Messiah teams that touched first and second in the 200 Free Relay, as the team of
Jacob Whipple,
Andrew Leeper,
Ridge Hagar, and
Tyler Wilkinson touched in a time of 1:30.17. Six tenths of a second behind them was the Falcons' team of
Daniel Logan,
Caleb Munoz,
Isaac McCabe, and
Avery Barley clocking in at 1:30.76, five seconds faster than the speediest Knights team.
In the 200 Medley Relay the Falcons finished a half second behind the Knights.
Andrew Leeper,
Isaac McCabe,
Ridge Hagar, and
Tyler Wilkinson claimed second place with a time of 1:40.27.
Freshman
Avery Barley showed his versatility in the pool, dominating the 1000 Free (10:34.69) where he came in ten seconds before his closest contender, and winning the 50 Free (22.50). He out touched second-place by only a hundredth of a second. Barley also won the 200 Back with a time of 2:02.45.
Ridge Hagar won both Fly events of the day, securing the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.38 and the 100 Fly with a time of 54.11.
Isaac McCabe rounded out the event victories on Saturday when he was victorious in the 200 Breast (2:17.23), he also touched third in the 100 Breast (1:03.25).
Andrew Leeper earned a pair of second place finishes on the day, swimming the 100 Back in a time of 57.03 and the 100 Free in a time of 50.19.
Mason Kennedy contributed to the team total with a second place finish in the 1000 Free (10:45.34) and a third place finish in the 400 Individual Medley (4:45.05)
Daniel Logan also earned himself a pair of top three finishes, touching second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:50.16 and placing third in 100 Fly with a time of 56.81.
The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they visit the Lycoming Warriors for a conference dual in Williamsport, Pa.
