GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah men's basketball team started Wednesday's tilt against the Lycoming Warriors with a 19-0 run, but had to hold on late to earn a 57-52 victory on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena.
Matt Glogowski led the Falcons with 21 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season and his third in as many games.

Josh Darville added 10 points as the Falcons remain alive in the MAC Commonwealth playoff picture.

The Falcons are next in action on Saturday when they host the Albright Lions at 4:00 p.m. in Hitchcock Arena.

Big Start
A 19-0 run was the story of the first eight minutes of the game for the Falcons. Messiah was on fire from all over the court, starting things off with a three-pointer from
Matt Glogowski and a three-pointer from
EJ Porter. The run was capped off by a bucket from downtown from
Colin Sareyka before the Warriors scored their first two points of the game, making it 19-2 with 11:42 remaining in the half.Â
Matt Glogowski collected seven points in that eight minute span on his way to his fifth career double-double, finishing the game with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Will Young IV also contributed to the Falcons' early lead in the contest.

Warriors Fight Back
Although the Falcons charged forward to an early lead, the two points from the Warriors sparked a 20-9 run for Lycoming that ended the first half 28-20 in favor of the Messiah. The charge was led by D'Yante Doughty, who drained three shots from downtown, including a buzzer-beater to end the first half.

The Warriors didn't stop there, striking first in the second half and going on a 22-12 run to take their first lead of the contest with a 42-40 advantage with 10:57 remaining in regulation.Â

Closing It OutÂ
With the Falcons down 42-40,
Matt Glogowski tied the game with a layup with 8:49 left in the second half. Following that play, Lycoming missed two three-pointers but
Kyle Krout drained his, giving the Falcons the 45-42 lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the contest. Messiah kept things going, earning points from
Josh Darville and
Colin Sareyka to complete the quick 6-0 run and make it 48-42 in favor of the Falcons with 5:59 remaining in the game.Â

Lycoming answered Messiah's run with a quick 4-0 run to pull within two with the score set at 48-46 in the Falcons' favor.Â
After a scoreless minute and 57 seconds,
Matt Glogowski got things started in fashion with a two-handed slam.
Caleb Light stole the ball from Lycoming immediately after Glogowski's dunk, extending the Falcons' lead to 52-46 with 2:37 remaining in the second half.Â

Back to back three's from Lycoming's Calvin Chandler had the game knotted up once more at 52-52 with 1:24 to play in regulation but
Matt Glogowski earned two points in the paint to regain the lead for Messiah.
Colin Sareyka sank two points at the charity stripe with 25 seconds left and
Matt Glogowski hit one of his two free throws in the final seconds of the contest to secure the 57-52 victory over the Warriors.Â

The Falcons look to stay alive in the postseason picture with their next game against Albright College on Feb. 9 at 4:00 p.m. on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena. The last time the Falcons and Lions met, Albright came out on top, defeating Messiah 77-69.Â
