Allegheny Proves Too Much for Falcons on Monday

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Messiah men's tennis team began their spring break trip by dropping a 9-0 decision against the Allegheny Gators on Monday afternoon. The Gators dropped just one game in doubles play before taking all six singles matches.

Andrew Bookman was the only Falcon to take a game on the day, winning the second set on court three by a 6-3 score.

The Falcons will be back on the courts on Monday afternoon when they take on the Edgewood Eagles at noon.

How It Happened
Allegheny swept the Falcons with 8-0 victories at the top two courts of doubles play. The team of Jarod Snader and AJ Swanson were the only doubles team to take a game, winning a game on court three before falling 8-1.

In singles play, Andrew Bookman claimed the second set of his #3 singles match. After dropping the first set 6-2, Bookman rallied to win the second 6-3 before ultimately falling 10-3 in the tiebreaker set.

The Gators claimed the other five matches in straight-set victories with Alex Mantsevich putting up the best fight, winning five games in a 6-3, 6-2 defeat against Matt Andrus.

What's Up Next
Messiah will continue their spring break trip with a match against the Edgewood Eagles at noon on Tuesday. Messiah has matches scheduled against Wisconsin - La Crosse and Macalester on Thursday and Friday.
