HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Messiah women's tennis team dropped a 8-1 decision against the Edgewood Eagles on Tuesday afternoon as they continued their spring break trip. The Eagles earned all three doubles matches before claiming five of the six singles matches contested.
Rebekah Adams was the lone Falcon to earn a point on Tuesday, winning her singles match on court three by a score of 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
The Falcons will take Wednesday off from competition and will be back in action on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. when they take on the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.
How It Happened
The Eagles dropped just six games across the three doubles matches to build a 3-0 lead heading to singles play. Edgewood continued the momentum into the six singles matches by winning five of the six matches, including four in straight sets.
Rebekah Adams won the #3 singles match by taking the opening set by a 6-4 score. After Marissa Wilson took the second set in the match 6-2, Adams battled back to claim the match tiebreaker 11-9 to win the match 6-4, 6-2 (11-9).
Gabby Brooks kept things close on court four, winning the second set 6-3 to force a match tiebreaker. Edgewood's Jaclyn Swift claimed the tiebreaker 10-5, defeating Brooks 6-2, 3-6 (10-5).
What's Up Next
After taking tomorrow off, the Falcons will be back in action on Thursday morning when they take on the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
