Two Records Broken By Falcons At Tufts

MEDFORD, Ma. - The Falcons took a small crew to Tufts University to compete in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet. Of the crew, Messiah had Maddison Landis, Ellissa Slader, Leanne Weaver, and Esther Seeland set the tone with a record-shattering performance in the distance medley relay. On the men's side, Benjamin Schott, Alex Scheib, Matthew Royer, and Tyler McFeaters also broke a program record in the distance medley relay. Abby McMinn competed in the 60m hurdles, finishing in ninth overall with a time of 9.36 seconds.

In The Results
Maddison Landis, Ellissa Slader, Leanne Weaver, and Esther Seeland ran an 11:53.61 in the distance medley relay, breaking the previous record set in 2010 (12:11.31) by nearly 17 seconds. Earlier this season, three of the four members of this squad (M. Landis, E. Slader, E. Seeland) combined for a 12:34.07, putting them fourth in program history. With this record, the women's track and field team has now broken all relay records (4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800m, and DMR) during the 2018-19 indoor season. 

Abby McMinn competed in the 60m hurdles to represent the Falcons and came across the line in 9.36 seconds, finishing in ninth. McMinn's time is her fourth-fastest race of her career.

The men's distance medley relay team, consisting of Benjamin Schott, Alex Scheib, Matthew Royer, and Tyler McFeaters put together a program record time of 10:09.83. The Falcons broke the previous record that was also set in 2010 by just .48 seconds.
