HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Messiah women's tennis team completed their spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. with a 9-0 loss to the Macalester College Scots on Friday morning. Messiah will return to central Pennsylvania for their next match on Tuesday, Mar. 26 when they host the Juniata Eagles at 4:00 p.m.
How It Happened
The Falcons fell into a 3-0 hole after the Scots took all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. Macalester dropped two or less games in each of the matches to build the lead.
In singles play,
Emily Wichert put up the best fight for the Falcons in the top singles match, winning four games in the opening set. She would fall 6-4, 6-0 to Laurel Hickey.
In all five of the other singles matches, Macalester dropped three games or less to claim all of the matches in straight sets.
Messiah went 0-4 during their week in Hilton Head and will look to rebound when they return home next week against Juniata on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Conference matches will begin for the Falcons next Saturday when Messiah travels to Alvernia at 1:00 p.m. on Mar. 30.
