GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season after they defeated the Juniata Eagles 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons returned to their home court after being on the road for their previous five matches. Messiah dominated in both singles and doubles play to pick up their first sweep of the season.
How It Happened
Gabby Brooks and
Rachel Marcroft started things off in doubles play by defeating their opponents 8-1. No 1 doubles
Kaitlyn Russell and
Emily Wichert and No. 2 doubles
Amanda Adams and
Rebekah Adams both were tested but picked up 8-3 victories in their matches. Messiah headed into singles matches with a 3-0 advantage over the Eagles.
The Falcons continued their winning ways in singles action and picked up six-straight victories.
Rebekah Adams (6-0. 6-1),
Gabby Brooks (6-1. 6-0), and
Robin Schwarzmann (6-0, 6-1) dominated in their matches, only dropping one set each.
Amanda Adams battled in her first set winning it 6-4 and went on to claim her second set 6-1, while
Kaitlyn Russell also secured a 6-4, 6-0 win in the top singles spot.
Emily Wichert had a strong start to her match (6-0), however she was tested in the second set but came out on top 6-3 after winning two straight games at the end of the set.

The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 30 when they travel to Alvernia University for their first conference match of the spring.
