READING, Pa. - The Messiah College women's tennis team secured their second-straight victory after they defeated the Alvernia Golden Wolves 7-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons started strong winning two out of three doubles matches and continued their solid play throughout the singles round.
How It Happened
The Falcons defeated the Golden Wolves in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches.
Robin Schwarzmann and
Rachel Marcroft picked up a 8-4 victory in the No. 3 slot, while
Amanda Adams and
Rebekah Adams battled and squeezed out a 8-7 (9-7) win.
In singles action, Messiah was victorious in five out of six matchups.
Rachel Marcroft and
Amanda Adams got things started for Messiah in which they won their matches 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
Rebekah Adams also defeated her opponent in two straight sets. Adams won the first set 6-4, however she was tested in the second set but pulled out a 7-5 victory.
Kaitlyn Russell (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) and
Emily Wichert (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) also were victorious in the top two singles slots, however each of their matches went to three sets.
