GRANTHAM, Pa. -
Taylor Wiederrecht headlined the Falcons' efforts on day two of the heptathlon with a lifetime personal best score of 4,575 points, putting her second all-time in program history.
Hannah Reed (2,494 points) and
Samantha Derkas (2,426 points) finished the seven events to finish in fourth and fifth, respectively.
In The Results
Taylor Wiederrecht finished day one of the heptathlon in the lead and never looked back. Wiederrecht opened up day two with a lifetime best jump of 5.31m in long jump to earn 645 points.
Samantha Derkas jumped 4.30m to grab 379 points while
Hannah Reed rounded out the Falcons' efforts in the event with a 3.93m jump, adding 292 points to her score.
In the javelin, Wiederrecht led the Falcons with a 27.33m throw to earn 426 points.
Samantha Derkas hit 19.60m (281 points) and
Hannah Reed threw 14.70m (191 points).Â
Wiederrecht got off to a quick start in the 800m, coming through the first lap in 1:10. Wiederrecht led the pack the whole way through the race and came through the finish in 2:24.01 to set a personal best time by two seconds.
Hannah Reed came across the line in 2:55.66 to grab 407 points and Samatha Derkas finished the race in 3:02.77 to add 340 more points to her score.
Wiederrecht finished in first with a total of 4,575 points, moving her into second all-time in program history.
Hannah Reed finished the seven events with a total score of 2,494 points to take fourth.
Samantha Derkas ended her first collegiate heptathlon in fifth place with 2,426 points, which qualifies her for the outdoor conference championship, as does Reed and Wiederrecht's score.Â

The Messiah Multi Invitational resumes tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. with the 10,000m getting the meet started.Â
