Women's 4x400m Relay Highlights Falcons Midweek Meet At Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Falcons traveled to nearby Shippensburg University for a midweek invitational before Easter break. Ellissa Slader dropped a top-10 all-time performance in the 200m, as did the 4x400m relay team. 

In The Results
Ellissa Slader led the way for Messiah in the 200m, coming through the line well ahead of the rest of the competition in her heat. Slader crossed the line in 25.92 seconds which puts her fifth all-time in program history. The Falcons also had Ellie Longshaw (27.27s), Rebecca Crosley (27.34s), and Brieanna Hess (27.96s) run sub-28 second races. 

Kelsie Kennedy (10th, 1:01.72), Brieanna Hess (14th, 1:02.54), and Emma Johsnen (1:04.54) represented the Falcons in the 400m.

Mikayla Lewin highlighted the Falcons' efforts in the 800m, coming across the line in 2:29.82, good for 12th place. Messiah had three other runners finish in the top-20, including Emma Fertig (17th, 2:32.23), Aja Cunningham (19th, 2:33.56), and Rachel Gaugler (20th, 2:33.61).

Ashlyn Stonge and Gabrielle Hahn finished in the top-10 in the 1500m today with times of 5:16.19 and 5:33.53, respectively. 

In the 3,000m, Leigha Southall led the pack for the Falcons, finishing the race in 10:40.80 to finish in sixth. Cera Gaston was the next Falcon to come through the line as she finished the race in 11:06.88 to finish in 10th. Elise Davenport was the last Falcon to place in the top-15 as she crossed the line in 11:23.76.

Ally Austen was the lone Falcon in the 5,000m and finished in sixth place with a time of 21:14.37.

Abby McMinn won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.98 seconds, her second week in a row running a sub-15 second race. McMinn also led the Falcons in the long jump with a 10th place finish after jumping 5.21m.

Leanne Weaver led the way for the Falcons in the 400m hurdles, finishing the race in third with a time of 1:05.30. 

Messiah's 4x400m relay team won the race with a time of 3:57.91. The team consisted of Leanne Weaver, Ellissa Slader, Esther Seeland, and Rebecca Crosley. Their time puts them sixth all-time in program history. 

Emily Gourley finished third in the high jump with a jump of 1.48m.

In the pole vault, America Cervantes cleared a bar of 2.45m to finish the day in fourth place.

Alecia Rohrer highlighted the Falcons efforts in the shot put, discus, and javelin. Rohrer threw 11.10m in the shot put, 36.39m in the discus, and 35.75m in the javelin. 

Alyssa McMinn finished sixth overall in the hammer throw after hitting a new personal best and program record mark of 45.35m.

What's Up Next
The Falcons will have the weekend off for Easter break and be back in action next week at Penn Relays and the Paul Kaiser Invitational at Shippensburg.
