Falcons Sweep The Bullets On The Road

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Falcons picked up a pair of non-conference wins on the road against the Gettysburg Bullets. Messiah fell behind early in game one, trailing the Bullets 1-0 after the first inning. A three-run third inning gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead but Gettysburg answered with two runs in the bottom of the third to tie it up. Messiah recorded sixth runs in the fifth and the sixth inning to earn a 9-3 victory, highlighted by a solo home run from Isabel Seise.

The Falcons struck early in game two with two runs in the first inning. Those two runs would remain the difference maker as Messiah defeated Gettysburg 2-0 for their second win of the day.

Messiah Defeats Gettysburg 9-3
The Bullets started the scoring for game one after the Falcons went three and out in the top of the first. Gettysburg walked to open the inning and later stole second. After another walk and a sacrifice bunt, the Bullets had two runners in scoring position but only brought one home after a groundout to second base.

Messiah failed to answer until the top of the third inning. Isabel Seise was hit by a pitch and pinch ran for by Jordan Bailey. Rianna Trexler moved Bailey to second with a single to right field. Ashley Carroll later put down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners one base. Karlee Stocksdale reached first on an error by the short stop that gave the Falcons their first run of the game to tie it 1-1. McKenzie Tebbs hit an RBI-single to left field to make it 2-1 while loading the bases and Erin Cressman was hit by a pitch which brought home another Falcon to give Messiah a 3-1 lead.

The 3-1 lead didn't stay long for Messiah as Gettysburg answered with two runs off of two hits and one error in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game 3-3.

Haylee Anders started the hitting for Messiah in the top of the fifth with a single to shortstop. Anders was caught stealing but McKenzie Tebbs and Erin Cressman both got walked to put two runners on base. Jaelynn Harbold stepped to the plate with two outs and ripped a double to left field to bring home Tebbs and Cressman to give Messiah the 5-3 lead.

Messiah added four more runs in the top of the sixth with Isabel Seise getting things started in style with a home run over center field. Later in the inning, Karlee Stocksdale hit a two- RBI double to center field to bring home Sarah Chen and Ashley Carroll, giving the Falcons a 8-3 lead. Messiah added one more run when McKenzie Tebbs hit a ground out RBI that brought home Karlee Stocksdale, giving Messiah the 9-3 win.
