Four Falcons Claim All-Conference Accolades

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Just one day before the start of the Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Volleyball Championships, the MAC released the winners of their end of year awards and All-Conference accolades. Among the honorees were a quartet of Falcons, with Caleb Weaver and Noah Shreiner earning First Team accolades while Matt Knab and Brad Nase claimed Second Team and Honorable Mention honors, respectively.
 
The honors for Nase and Weaver are the second of their careers after their being named All-Conference last season, while Shreiner and Knab claimed the first laurels of their career.
 
Weaver was named Second Team All-Conference after the 2018 season, but a successful junior campaign in 2019 he was honored on the First Team as a libero. With 272 digs in 82 sets, Weaver led the conference in digs per set with a 3.28 average. Despite playing 36 less sets than the conference leader, he was second with 272 total digs on the year. In 14 separate matches, Weaver collected double-digit digs, including a season-high 24 against Alvernia on Mar. 30. On the season, he led the Falcons in reception attempts with 597, making only 24 errors for a .960 reception percentage.
 
Joining Weaver on the First Team was junior middle blocker Noah Shreiner, who led the Falcons and was second in the conference with a .396 hitting percentage. Shreiner finished the season with 216 and just 62 errors on 389 swings from the middle this season. Shreiner was sixth in the conference with a 2.57 kills per set average. Shreiner turned in a number of impressive performances this season, including nine different matches where he hit over .500. Arguably his best performance of the year came in a 3-2 defeat against Alvernia on Mar. 30 where he hit at a .520 clip with a season-high 17 kills. In addition to his offense, he finished the regular season with 48.0 total blocks, second-most on the team.
 
On the Second Team, Matt Knab earned the first All-Conference accolade of his career. The sophomore outside hitter finished the season with a team-high 256 kills and was the conference leader in kills per set with a 3.46 average in each of the 74 sets he played this season. Knab finished the regular season with 13 matches of double-digit kills, including 26 and 20 kill efforts against Alvernia (Mar. 30) and Hunter (Jan. 26), respectively. In the match against Hunter, Knab also earned 10 digs for the first of three double-doubles on the season. Knab also tied for the team lead in service aces with Will Webb, picking up 16 on the year.
 
After claiming First Team honors last year, Brad Nase was award an Honorable Mention nod this season after dishing out 856 assists during the regular season. His 9.11 assist per set average was tops in the conference and 22nd overall in the country this season. Nase was able to pick-up 66 total kills while also setting his teammates up this season. His 66 successful dumps earned him a .357 hitting percentage on the season with just 16 errors. From the service line, he earned 11 service aces while finishing third on the team with 115 digs.
 
Messiah finished the regular season with a 19-10 overall record with a 9-5 mark in the conference to claim the third seed in the MAC Tournament. Messiah will travel to second-seeded Stevenson Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
