Falcons Overwhelm Dutchmen, Return To Conference Championship

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College women's tennis team took care of business in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons defeated the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen 5-0 and will move on to the conference title match for the fourth-straight season. Messiah started strong and swept Lebanon Valley 3-0 in doubles play. The Falcons kept their foot on the gas and it was the Adams' sisters (Amanda Adams, Rebekah Adams) who closed out the match for Messiah.

How It Happened
No. 2 doubles Amanda Adams/Rebekah Adams started things off for the Falcons with an 8-1 win over their opponents. Kaitlyn Russell and Emily Wichert followed suit and also claimed an 8-1 victory at the top-spot. Gabby Brooks and Rachel Marcroft battled and completed the sweep of doubles matches with an 8-6 win. Messiah moved into singles play only needing two victories to close out the match. No. 3 Amanda Adams once again got things going for the Falcons and secured a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win. Rebekah Adams was close behind and finished her match 6-1, 6-0 to claim Messiah's fifth victory and to punch their ticket to the MAC Commonwealth Championship.
