ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference announced the All-MAC Commonwealth baseball teams on Thursday morning. Among the honorees were four Falcons with Trent Culver picking up First Team accolades. Jarod Bingaman claimed Second Team honors while also being named the conference's Rookie of the Year. Josh Hayner and Sam Stewart were each noted as Honorable Mentions.

After a solid freshman season, Trent Culver burst onto the scene during his sophomore campaign hitting a team-high .392 with one game left in the season. As a result, Culver was honored with the first All-Conference nod of his career, being named First Team. The Falcons' outfielder collected 47 hits while scoring a team-high 43 runs primarily from the leadoff spot. His 12 extra-base hits were highlighted by 11 doubles and he walked (23) eight more times than stuck out (15). Culver collected 12 multi-hit games this season and went on a 12-game hitting streak in the middle of the season. On the base paths, Culver was a menace all year, swiping 26 bags in 31 attempts. After he stole 23 in his freshman season, Culver becomes the first Falcon since Sam Tajiri (20 steals in both 2011 and 2012) to steal 20-plus bags in back-to-back seasons.

Jarod Bingaman earned the Falcons starting short stop job this season and was a mainstay in the middle of the Messiah infield and line-up all season long. The freshman was the only Falcons to appear in all 39 games for Messiah so far this season. He batted .350 on the year with 43 hits and eight extra-base knocks. Bingaman is currently tied for the team lead in RBI with 27 while walking 14 times and stealing 13 bases in 18 attempts. For his strong play all season long, Bingaman was not only named Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth, but was honored as the Rookie of the Year in the conference. He becomes Messiah baseball's third Rookie of the Year in the MAC Commonwealth, joining Chris Heisey (2004) and Jon Lapp (2011).

A pair of Falcons earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors with Josh Hayner and Sam Stewart claiming the awards. Both Hayner and Stewart have earned conference accolades in the past with Hayner making First Team last season and Stewart claiming Second Team honors in the 2017 season. Hayner earns the Second Team honor after batting .346 as Messiah's primary second baseman. The senior drove home 27 runs and scored 24 runs while collecting 13 extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs. On the bases, Hayner stole eight bags.

Stewart picks up his second All-Conference honor after playing third base, catcher, and degisnated hitter throughout the year for Messiah. Stewart appeared in 29 games this season and hit .330 with a team-high four home runs. He drove home 23 runs while scoring 14 of his own. His nine doubles were second on the team this year while he led the Falcons with a .560 slugging percentage.

Messiah wraps-up the 2019 regular season on the road today when they travel to Moravian at 4:00 p.m.
