GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Messiah volleyball dominated on day one at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic, defeating McDaniel College in straight sets (25-10, 25-19, 25-14) and Gallaudet University in straight sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-19). Senior
Mary Underman led the way for the Falcons in both matches, recording 10 kills against McDaniel and 11 kills against Gallaudet.
Messiah will wrap up the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic tomorrow afternoon when they take on Salve Regina at noon and the host Gettysburg College at 2:00 p.m.

The Falcons soared in this one, as senior
Mary Underman recorded 10 kills, and a pair of juniors in
Kate Preudhomme and
Payton Manwaring chipped in seven and six kills respectively.
In her first match as a Falcon, junior transfer
Kristen Seibert led the Falcons in assists with twenty-five. Leading the Falcons defensively was junior
Amanda Dahlman, who recorded 17 digs.
McDaniel was not able to recover after being blitzed in the first set by Messiah, as they struggled to get anything going offensively, recording only 24 kills in the match. Leading the Green Terror with six kills was the trio of Marlowe Embry, Anna Jezerski, and Emma Lorenzen.
Messiah defeats Gallaudet University 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-19)
Underman and Manwaring continued their impressive days against the Bison, with Underman recording 11 kills and Manwaring finishing with 10.
Kristen Seibert made another great first impression on Falcon fans, as she recorded 27 assists in this one.
In similar fashion to match one, Messiah came out of the gates strong and never looked back. A pair of Falcons in
Mary Underman and
Amanda Dahlman began their quests to set Messiah program records. Underman began the season 56 block assists from the record. She recorded five today, which puts her at 246 in her career. Dahlman began the season 513 digs away from the all-time record, and with 29 on the day that puts her at 1,054 in her career.
The Falcons hop right back into action against Salve Regina tomorrow at noon, and finish up the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic against host Gettysburg College at 2:00 p.m.
