NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Falcons traveled to The Armory and New York City and broke two program records while there. As a team, Messiah finished in fifth place with 42 points. The Falcons also set two new meet records with
Esther Seeland winning the 800m in 2:12.18 and
Leanne Weaver winning the mile in 4:58.16. The Falcons third win of the day came in the 4x400m relay when they set the program record by over six seconds, finishing with a time of 3:54.12.
In The Results
Kathryn Wiederrecht led the Falcons in the 60m dash, running an 8.26 to take 15th.
Ellie Longshaw took 26th place with a time of 8.45 seconds. In the 200m,
Ellissa Slader finished in sixth place with a time of 26.46 while Longshaw finished in 30th with a time of 27.69 seconds.
Julia Geisheimer finished right behind Longsahw with a 27.89 to take 34th. Geisheimer also finished in 17th place in the long jump with a mark of 4.45m.
In the 400m,
Emma Johnsen took 32nd place with a time of 1:05.27 while
Cassidy Chandler finished in 46th with a time of 1:08.02.
Esther Seeland shined for the Falcons in the 800m, running the majority of the race alone, in the lead. Seeland crossed the line in 2:12.02 to set a new program record. Seeland's time is also the top time in the country so far this season.
Laura Kruth was the next Falcon to cross the line in the 800m, finishing in 2:30.19 to take 25th.
Olivia Cory followed closely behind, taking 28th place with a time of 2:31.64. Rounding out the Falcons' performance in the event was
Amber Fogelsanger, who finished in 2:34.68 to take 39th place.
In the mile,
Leanne Weaver stormed around the track and finished the day with a new program record and meet record. Weaver made a late pass that propelled her into the lead as she approached her last two laps. Weaver crossed the finish line in 4:58.16 to claim the victory.
Chloe Wester finished in 5:33.60 to take 27th place.
Emma Fertig and
Connor Coggins crossed the line in 5:37.62 and 5:39.96 to finish in 32nd and 35th place, respectively.
In the 3,000m,
Teddi Powell led the way for the Falcons, coming across the line in 11:08.95 to take 17th place. Katelyn Prothero and
Amber Swaisgood ran 11:14.55 and 11:33.59 to take 21st and 25th.
Elise Davenport rounded out the Falcons' performance in the event with a 12:03.15 to finish in 29th place.
In the 5,000m,
Sarah Codd finished in fourth place after crossing the finish line in 18:47.24 for the 25 lap race.
Cera Gaston ended the day in 10th place with a time of 19:16.82.
Bayley Hess made her way onto the program's top ten list with a jump of 3.04m in the pole vault. In shot put,
Lila Goodhile led the way for Messiah, throwing 10.09m (18th) while
Amanda Brown threw 8.89m (26th). Brown also competed in the weight throw, finishing in 23rd with a 10.48m throw while
Erin Haines finished in 30th with a 9.23m throw.
The distance medley relay team of
Olivia Cory,
Catherine Arke,
Sarah Blessing, and
Chloe Wester combined for a 13:30.81 to take seventh place in the event.
The last event of the day was the 4x400m relay and the Falcons did not disappoint.
Ellissa Slader started the race for Messiah, passing the baton to
Leanne Weaver. Weaver then passed it to
Kathryn Wiederrecht who fought hard to hold her place before giving the baton to
Esther Seeland. Seeland brought it home for the Falcons as the crew combined for a total time of 3:54.12, becoming the first indoor relay team in program history to run sub-4 in the event.
