GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah men's basketball team defeated the visiting Lancaster Bible Chargers 75-49 Saturday night in Hitchcock Arena. Eleven Falcons found the score sheet in this one, with
EJ Porter leading the way with 17 points while
Josh Darville added 10 points for Messiah. The Falcons had a solid night from the field, shooting 46.3%, while shooting an impressive 44% from beyond the arc.
With the victory, Messiah moves to 8-4 overall on the season, as they return to MAC Commonwealth play Wednesday night in Chester, Pa. where they take on the Widener Pride at 6:00 p.m.
Quiet Start For Both Teams
Both the Falcons and Chargers did not get off to the start they wanted to offensively in this one, with the score stuck at 6-5 Messiah after around eight minutes of play.
The Falcons were the first ones to get out of the mud after an
EJ Porter three made it 9-5. The sophomore recorded 14 of his 17 points in the first half.

Knockout Punch
Messiah snatched the momentum of the contest and never looked back after producing a 23-11 run to make the score 29-16 and put the Chargers on their heels.
Spearheading the Falcon push was eight points from
Colin Sareyka and six points from
Kyle Krout. Two late Porter threes helped give Messiah a 35-20 lead going into halftime.

Keeping It Rolling
Porter kept his hot shooting going early on in the second half with a three to make it 38-20 and dash any hopes of a Charger comeback. The Falcons kept a steady lead throughout the second half, never leading by less than 17 and leading by as many as 28.
Cam Carter recorded all seven of his points in the second half while Darville picked up seven of his 10 points in the second half. Darville also recorded a career-high five steals in the contest. The consistent offensive flurry led to an eventual 75-49 Falcon victory.
