Tebbs, Walter, Weaver, and Cornell Earn MAC Player of the Week Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced their weekly awards this morning for the week ending Feb. 16. Four Falcons were honored in McKenzie Tebbs, Madison Walter, Leanne Weaver, and Garret Cornell.

Tebbs went 4-7 at the plate with a double and two RBI's while Walter threw 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts at Methodist University this weekend.

Weaver improved on her program record time in the mile with a 4:57.89 this weekend at the Fasttrack National Invitational, as she finished second in the event. She was also part of the 4x400m relay team that ran a 3:54.23, winning the event.

Cornell had a big weekend for the Falcons, earning a pin in 3:39 Friday night against Elizabethtown before earning a dual-clinching 14-6 major decision against TCNJ.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
McKenzie Tebbs went 4-for-7 with two RBI's, two runs, and a double in Messiah's season-opening doubleheader with Methodist. Tebbs started the season with a 3-3 effort in the first game with an RBI and a run, while also roping a double against Methodist.
 
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Madison Walter went the distance in the season-opener, tossing 7.2 innings in a 4-3 setback for the Falcons against Methodist. Walter allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out eight and walking none.

MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Leanne Weaver earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Weaver lowered her program record time in the mile to 4:57.89 at the Fasttrack National Invitational hosted by the Ocean Breeze Complex on Saturday. The time is three seconds off the MAC record and is ranked 10th in the nation. Weaver finished second in the event and also competed on Messiah's 4x400 Relay team that finished with a time of 3:54.23. The relay time is one second off the MAC record.

MAC Wrestler of the Week
Garret Cornell earned his second conference weekly award of the season. Cornell earned a pair of victories in duals for the Falcons, picking up a pin against Elizabethtown's Colton Rex in 3:39 to help Messiah to a 35-12 victory. Then on Saturday against No. 6 TCNJ, Cornell earned the dual-clinching victory over Robert Dinger with a 14-6 major decision. The Falcons trailed 18-17 before Cornell stepped up and claimed the major decision to win the match for the Falcons, 21-18.
