READING, Pa. - The Messiah men's basketball team capped off their 2019-2020 season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 98-75 contest at Albright College. Four Falcons scored in double-digits in the game, with EJ Porter scoring a team-high 25 points and Tyler Penley scoring a career-high 12 points in the loss.

Messiah played the Lions tough in the second-half as Albright only outscored the Falcons by one point in the half, but a 50-28 halftime deficit proved to be too much for Messiah to overcome. The loss gives Messiah a final record of 11-14 overall in the 2019-2020 season.

Lions Roar In First Half
The Falcons and Lions played out to a 15-15 tie about halfway through the first half. This was before Albright took over the remainder of the half, using a 19-6 run to make it a 34-21 lead with 5:27 left in the half.

This lead stretched to 17 for the Lions after a Sidney Brown three pointer made it 45-28 with just over a minute remaining in the first half. The Lions tacked on five more points at the end of the half and found themselves with a 50-28 lead at the break. Albright shot 55.56% in the first half, while Messiah shot 40.74% from the field.

Albright Holds Steady In Second Half
The Lions extended their lead to 29 in the second half at 72-43 before the Falcons began to try and chip away at the lead. A 9-0 run followed for the Falcons with a Tyler Penley three ball leading the way.

The Falcon streak would expand to 16-3 after another Penley trey and a Caleb Light bucket made it 75-59 with 6:43 to play. That proved to be as close as Messiah would come in the game. The Lions would increase their lead back out to 96-67 with just under two minutes to play in the game. Albright would hold a steady lead throughout the remaining minutes and come away with a 98-75 win.

Albright shot an impressive 53.6% from the field compared to the Falcons 47.5%.

In what was their final games as Falcons, Josh Darville scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Jordan Criddle and Kyle Krout both had two points and three rebounds respectively.
