ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced their All-Conference selections this morning for the 2019-20 season and three Falcons were honored.
The honors were led by senior
Leah Springer, who was not only named First Team All-MAC Commonwealth, but also the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year. After not playing last season due to injury, Springer has stormed right back onto the scene for the Falcons, averaging a team-high 19.3 points, good for second in the conference as well as a team-high 10.6 rebounds.
Springer is also third in the conference with 15 double-doubles, while being a dominant presence in the paint, picking up 48 blocks this season. She also scored her 1,000th career point in a Falcons 65-49 win at Stevenson on Feb. 12, becoming just the 24th player in program history to do so. This is her second conference honor, being named Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth in her sophomore season.
Junior
Jayneisha Davis was named Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth. Davis has been a solid contributor for the Falcons since day one after transferring in this season. She is second on the team in points per game at 13.4, while also setting up her teammates for success, leading Messiah with 73 assists. She has also been a key part of the Falcons stifling defense, recording 60 steals on the season.
Sophomore
Eleana Eckley earned her first conference honor of her career after being named Honorable Mention All-MAC Commonwealth. Eckley averages 12.2 points per game, while being the Falcons most consistent threat from beyond the arc. She is shooting 38.7% from downtown, which is third in the conference while making a team-high 41 threes so far this season.
Eckley used a 22 point performance at Lebanon Valley and a career-high 27 points at Alvernia to help her be named the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week back on Jan. 27.
Messiah will be back in action tomorrow night inside Hitchcock Arena against the Albright College Lions at 7:30 p.m. in the MAC Commonwealth championship game. The Falcons will be looking to win their fourth straight MAC Commonwealth championship and earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
