MEDFORD, Mass. - On Tuesday evening, the Tufts Jumbos announced that no fans will be allowed into Cousens Gym for this weekend's women's basketball sectional rounds due to the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. Outside of players and coaches, only credentialed game operations personnel and administrative staff will be permitted to attend games this weekend.
The Falcons will head to Medford for their Sweet 16 game against the Smith College Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The other Sweet 16 game in Medford, Mass. will feature the Tufts Jumbos and the Williams Ephs at 7:00 p.m. Friday. The winners will square off on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
The Tufts sectional will not be the only women's basketball sectional played without fans this weekend. The Amherst Mammoths and Bowdoin Polar Bears have announced in recent days that their sectional games will be played without fans in attendance as well. Only the Hope Flying Dutch will welcome fans into their gymnasium for Division III Basketball this weekend.
