GRANTHAM, Pa. - The awards keep rolling in for Messiah women's basketball senior forward Leah Springer. On Tuesday night, D3hoops.com announced Springer as a First Team All-American, one of five players named to the top team. The honor comes just a week after D3hoops.com tabbed her as the Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) named her an All-American as well.

Springer helped lead the Falcons to the Sweet 16 after averaging a double-double on the season, averaging 19.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Joining Springer on the top national team were Sydney Kopp (DePauw), Raenett Hughes (Texas-Dallas), Erica DeCandido (Tufts), and Maddie Hasson (Bowdoin). DeCandido was named the National Player of the Year by the outlet.

Springer put together a stellar senior season after missing the entirety of her junior year due to injury. She collected 15 double-doubles while blocking 54 shots and dishing out 69 assists on the year. She also becomes the 24th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, ending her senior year with 1,148 points.

Springer and the Falcons saw their season end with a victory in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament over the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors by a 60-50 final score. The Falcons were scheduled to take on the Smith Pioneers in the Sweet 16 before the COVID-19 outbreak halted all remaining winter and spring NCAA Championships.
