GRANTHAM, Pa. - The No. 12 Messiah women's soccer team overwhelmed the visiting Alvernia Golden Wolves on Tuesday night, earning a 4-0 victory on Shoemaker Field after outshooting Alvernia 38-1 on the evening. The Falcons netted three tallies before the break with

Thea Neimond, and
Esther Seeland scoring prior to the half. After the breather,

From the Opening Touch
The Falcons wasted little time jumping all over the Golden Wolves, Messiah put two shots on goal in the first four minutes with attempts from
Brianna Seip and
Rachael Tirjan. While Alvernia did register the lone shot of the match in the eighth minute, it came from well outside the box and trickled wide.
In the 10th minute,
Rachael Tirjan carried possession down to the end line on the left side slipped a pass to
Brianna Seip in the middle of the box. Seip ran onto the pass for the one-time shot, putting it in the back of the net for a 1-0 Messiah lead.
Just 20 seconds later, Tirjan nearly doubled the lead, nicking the right post with an attempt. Despite heavy pressure for the next 20 minutes, Messiah would have to wait until the 31st minute to add to their lead. Off of a corner kick,
Kenzie Spodnik sent a ball into the mix at the six.
Thea Neimond was there for a slight tough that did just enough to redirect the delivery past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
With less than two minutes before the half, Messiah connected on their third goal of the contest. Again, off of a corner, Messiah found their score. Madison Hughes sent the delivery into the middle of the box, where the pass bounced to the head of
Esther Seeland. The header skipped past the Golden Wolves' keeper for a 3-0 Falcons' advantage heading to the half.
More Dominate Second Half
The Falcons took a total of 25 shots in the second half while holding Alvernia without an attempt. Even with the high volume of attempts, Messiah was only able to find one insurance goal. That score came in the 57th minute off a half-volley from
Jessie Fisher, following a corner kick. Fisher chested down a free ball and knocked through her first score of the season to give the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
