Grantham, Pa - The Messiah field hockey team earned a 5-0 conference win against the Albright Lions early Saturday afternoon.
Ashlyn Smith started off the game with a goal early and then
Jennie Young tacked on two goals for the Falcons in the first half.
Madi Johnson and
Ashley Levesque also added goals for the Falcons on the 5-0 win. Messiah is back in action on October 9, when they are on the road at Alvernia.

In a game where Messiah dominated time of possession and shots, Albright could not get anything going against the Falcons. Messiah out shot the Lions 26 to 2 and had 12 penalty corners to Albright's zero. However, the score could have been a lot worse for the Lions, as Albright made 14 saves on the afternoon compared to Messiah's two saves.Â

Ashlyn Smith got the Falcons on the board first in under three minutes in the first quarter. It was Smith's sixth goal on the year and Messiah.

Later,
Jennie Young added to the lead scoring the next two goals for the Falcons. She scored her fourth goal of the year midway through the first quarter and her fifth goal on the year later in the second quarter.

After halftime, the Falcons did not stop their pursuit on offense as
Madi Johnson scored 55 seconds into the third quarter to extend the lead to 4-0. It was Johnson's second goal of the season.

Finally,
Ashley Levesque added the fifth and final goal for Messiah a little over five minutes into the fourth quarter. It was Levesque's first goal of the season as Messiah proved to be too much for the Lions.

The win brings the Falcons record to 8-2 overall with a 3-0 conference record. They will travel to Alvernia on October 9 for their next matchup against the Golden Wolves.
