Grantham, Pa - Messiah women's volleyball swept the Albright Lions 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-10) on senior night late on Thursday.
Mackenzie Feight led the team with 12 kills in the match.
Kristen Seibert had a team high 24 assists while
Amanda Dahlman had nine digs. The win was the Falcons eighth straight win and they finished the regular season with a 19-8 record and a 6-2 conference mark.
The Falcons will face fifth seeded Widener in the MAC Commonwealth Conference Play-In Game on Monday November 1, at 7:00 PM in Grantham, Pa.
Messiah defeats Albright 3-0
Early on senior night, it was the Lions who jumped out to a 6-3 lead which prompted a quick Messiah timeout. The Falcons found success after the timeout and earned a 16-11 advantage. The Lions would take a timeout down 21-15 in the set. Messiah then won four of five to take the first set 25-16.
Caitlin Lielbriedis and
Rachel Rashford led the team in kills in the first set, as each player had four of them.
The second set was well contested early, but Messiah pulled away midway through the set and held a commanding 18-10 lead which forced an Albright timeout. Messiah went on a 7-4 run to win 25-14 thanks to a
Sarah Taylor ace to end the set. It was Taylor's second career ace.
Rachel Rashford added another four kills in the second set to bring her total to eight kills through two sets.
The third set saw
Hailey Miller as the Libero for the Falcons. Messiah started strong in the third set jumping out to a 5-0 lead. After an Albright timeout and a subsequent Albright point, Messiah got a side out and brought in senior
Logan Wolfe to serve. When
Mackenzie Feight checked back in, the Falcons held an 11-2 lead. Messiah had their way with Albright for the rest of the set, and it was certainly a senior night to remember. Messiah won the third set easily 25-10 to sweep the match 3-0.
