ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its weekly awards for the week ending on Oct. 31 on Monday morning as three Falcons claimed honors.
Logan Horst (men's cross country) and the field hockey duo of
Kate Dickow and
Lilly Coln all earned conference weekly recognition for their stellar performances this past week. Horst claims his fourth conference weekly honor as Dickow and Coln receive their first-career weekly accolades.
Logan Horst – Men's Cross Country - MAC Runner of the Week
Messiah men's cross country captured its fourth MAC Championship in program history on Saturday at DeSales University as Horst made integral contributions. Horst finished first out of 141 runners in the 8K competition with a time of 26:33.2. In addition to earning his fourth MAC Runner of the Week honor of the season, Horst's performance on Saturday landed him on the All-MAC First Team as well as claiming the MAC Runner of the Year award.
Horst becomes the first MAC Individual Champion for men's cross country since 2018 (Benjamin Schott) and will compete in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals (8K) at Big Spring High School in Carlisle, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 12:00 p.m.
Kate Dickow – Field Hockey - MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Dickow claims her first MAC weekly award after helping the Falcons to push past visiting Stevenson University, 5-1, last Wednesday night. The junior midfielder notched two goals in the opening quarter of play, leading to a five-goal outburst in total from Messiah. The goals were Dickow's second and third tallies of the season.
Lilly Coln – Field Hockey – MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Coln made her first-career start in cage for the Falcons in the win over Stevenson last Wednesday night. The junior rose to the occasion, totaling four saves and earning the victory in her debut. Coln made a number of game-defining saves, including a kick save from a penalty corner opportunity as the third quarter was expiring, preserving Messiah's lead heading into the final period of play.
The Falcons will compete in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament as the No. 1 seed this week, and will host the winner of No. 5 Lebanon Valley College versus No. 4 Alvernia University at Anderson Field on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
