St.Petersburg, FL - Messiah beat Bridgewater State 76-58 late on Monday night, bringing their record to 9-2 on the year. Leah Springer and Megan Zimmerman each had a double-double on the night to propel the Falcons to the win. Messiah is back in action in the new year when they host Franklin and Marshall on January 3.
First Half
Messiah led after quarter number one 19-14 thanks in part to Leah Springer and Megan Zimmerman. They combined for ten points, Springer with six and Zimmerman with four and each had two rebounds.
The second quarter was more of the same as Messiah led at the half 40-23. Springer and Zimmerman went seven for eight from the field on route to 16 of the team's 21 second quarter points. Springer led all scorers at the half with 16 points while Zimmerman added ten points. Both players also recorded six rebounds in the half.
Springer and Zimmerman went a combined 11/14 (78%) from the floor while the rest of the team shot 4/21 (19%). The Falcons also went cold from three, going one for ten from beyond the arc. Sidney Stutzman made the lone three in the first half.
Bridgewater State shot 31% from the field only scoring 23 points in 20 minutes during the first half. They as well were cold from three, going one for nine.
Second Half
The second half was more evenly contested, but the Falcons built up too much of a lead at halftime. At the end of the third quarter, Messiah led 55-35. Stutzman and Harden led Messiah scorers in the third quarter with five and four points respectively.
Messiah closed out the game in the fourth quarter and beat Bridgewater State 76-58. Eleana Eckley and Morgan Adams each tied for a quarter-high five points. Harden also added four in the quarter.
Leah Springer and Megan Zimmerman each had a double-double on the evening. Springer totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds while Zimmerman had 13 points and ten rebounds. Reese Harden and Sidney Stutzman each added ten points on the night.
The Falcons ended the night shooting 44% from the field and 19% from three.

The win brings their record to 9-2 and will be back in action in the new year when they host Franklin and Marshall College on January 3. That game will be played at 6:00 p.m. on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena in Grantham, Pa.
