ST. DAVIDS. Pa. - The No. 21 Messiah women's lacrosse team continues to dominate on offense this season. On Saturday, the Falcons used 11 different goal scorers to claim a 22-3 win on the road at Eastern University.
Hope Flack led the way for Messiah with five goals while
Emma Lytle added four tallies.
Rachel Delate continued her hot start to the season, scoring one goal and dishing out five assists.
The Falcons jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest. Eastern's Ellie Pruitt halted Messiah's scoring run briefly, but five-straight goals made it a 9-1 Messiah lead with just over 19 minutes left in the half. During the 9-1 run to start the game,
Abby Howard and
Hope Flack combined for five goals with a half dozen Falcons scoring.
After an Allison Andres goal midway through the first half for Eastern made it 9-2, Messiah rattled off six-straight scores to finish off the half with Messiah firmly in the driver's seat at 15-2.
Emma Lytle highlighted the run with a pair of goals, including the tally that got the clock rolling with the Falcons ahead by double-digits at 12-2.
Lytle scored her fourth goal of the afternoon to kick off the second half with
Amanda Wadsworth and
Makenzie Schnur following to make it an 18-2 lead with 20 minutes left in the match.
Jana Krihak put the cherry on top of the victory with the final two goals of the game. Those scores were the second and third goals of her career.
In total, Messiah outshot the Eagles 35-9 in the game, including a 25-7 edge in the opening half. Messiah also caused 16 turnovers while giving up possession just 11 times in the contest.
Delate, through seven games, leads the MAC Commonwealth in goals (23) and assists (25), and points (48).
The win advances Messiah to 7-0 on the season. All seven wins have been lopsided ones for the Falcons with Messiah outscoring their opponents 136-23 on the season. Messiah is 4-0 in the MAC Commonwealth, but they will go out of conference for an away match at Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Hoboken, N.J.
