ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Messiah men's track & field team competed at Lebanon Valley College Saturday afternoon, as four Falcons recorded first-place finishes.
Brody Beiler notched his second first-place finish of the season in the 1500, breaking the four-minute threshold (3:57.82), as
Logan Horst placed first in the 5000 with a time of 15:31.38.
Brendan Provan and
Noah Keitel led Messiah in the field events, with Provan placing first in the long jump (6.53m), and Keitel turning in a winning distance of 12.78 meters in the triple jump.
Notable Results
Beiler beat the field by over ten seconds in the 1500. The sub-four-minute top time was the ninth-best 1500 mark in Messiah history. Following Beiler was
Isaac Covert, who turned in a quality time of 4:24.04, a top time in the second heat of the event.
Logan Horst turned in a personal-best time in the 5000, as six Falcons followed the freshman to sweep the top seven times in the event. Among the top five finishes were Horst,
Josiah Moyer (15:57.97),
Andrew Hutchinson (16:18.18),
Noah Calisti (16:29.07), and
Kyle Costello (16:44.17). All top seven finishers for Messiah in the 5000 were freshmen.
After notching a first-place finish in the high jump last weekend at the Messiah Invitational,
Derek Heisey turned in a personal-best mark in the 400 hurdles. The freshman recorded a time of 56.30 seconds, falling just a second behind the leader.
Andrew Schott competed well in the 110 hurdles, placing a second-place finish with a time of 15.86 seconds.
Joshua Horst contributed a first-place finish in the second heat of the 100, placing a winning time of 11.72 seconds. Following J. Horst was
James Chopka, turning in a time of 12.35 seconds. J. Horst, to tack on to his winning performance in the 100, placed first in the second heat of the 200 (24.04).
Ryan Thurber placed second in the 400 (52.99), as
Jack Daudt placed a third-best mark (2:04.63) in the first heat of the 800. The second heat saw a first-place finisher for Messiah, as
Chad Long turned in a top time of 2:08.21.
The Falcons competed in the 4x400 relay, as a team of
Connor Daudt,
Luke Myers,
Cassidy Hoffman, and Thurber registered a second-place time of 3:44.57.
Provan and Keitel led the way for the Falcons in the field events. Provan's long jump of 6.53 meters led all competitors, as Keitel recorded a distance of 5.89 meters. Keitel recorded a winning distance in the triple jump, leaping to a distance of 12.78 meters.
Ezra Lee competed in both the long jump and the triple jump, registering distances of 4.99 meters and 10.59 meters, respectively.
Schott notched a personal-best height in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.82 meters. Heisey, turning in a second-place height, cleared the bar at 1.87 meters.
Two Falcons competed in the pole vault, with
Joel Rhinehart vaulting to a height of 3.44 meters, and
Josiah Provan clearing 2.69 meters.
It was an overall positive team effort from the Falcons on the road today, as the teams competing were able to perform before an excited crowd for the first time this season.
