Springer Honored With Second-Straight All-American Nod, Davis Earns National Recognition

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women's College Basketball Association (WBCA) announced its NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America team on Wednesday morning as forward Leah Springer was honored with an All-American accolade for the second-straight season. Joining Springer in receiving national recognition was guard Jayneisha Davis, who earned an All-America honorable mention.
 
Springer is showered with All-American honors for the second time of her career, also being highlighted during the 2019-20 season. The honor comes just a week after being named named First Team All-Region and Co-Regional Player of the Year by D3hoops.com. Earlier this season, Springer was named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year for the second time of her career, also receiving a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth nod.
 
The graduate student forward led the Falcons' offense throughout the undefeated 11-0 season. Springer averaged 15.9 points per game while reeling in an average of 9.8 rebounds per game, both team-high marks. Out of Messiah's 11 games, Springer recorded double-doubles in seven contests, ending the season with four-straight games of recording double-double figures.
 
Davis is honored with her first national recognition of her career, also coming a week after being named Second Team All-Region. With a conference-leading 46 steals, Davis was named MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year while earning her first-career First Team All-MAC Commonwealth accolade. The senior guard was second behind Springer in average scoring (14.9), dishing out 34 assists, tied for the team-high mark.
 
Springer and Davis led Messiah to its sixth undefeated conference record (11-0) in program history. The Falcons won their fifth-consecutive MAC Commonwealth title on Mar. 18, topping visiting Widener University, 60-45.
 

D3hoops.com Honors Springer

For the second-straight season, Leah Springer was honored by D3hoops.com with an All-American honor. Last year, Springer was named to the first Team while this season she picked up a Second Team honor. The honor comes just a week after the organization celebrated her as the co-Mid-Atlantic/Atlantic Player of the Year.
