Eleven Falcons Score As Messiah Moves To 9-0

READING, Pa. - The Messiah women's lacrosse team beat Alvernia University for the second time this season by a score of 19-3. Thirteen Falcons recorded points in the contest while eleven players found the back of the cage. Leading the way was Rachel Delate with seven points and a team high four assists while Abby Howard scored five goals for the second consecutive game to give her a team-high 31 goals on the season. Messiah outshot the Golden Wolves 35-17 while putting 33 shots on goal.

With the win, the Falcons move to 9-0 on the season and will face their toughest test of the season on Wednesday, Apr. 7 when they travel to York College (Pa.) to take on the No. 7 ranked Spartans. 
 
Blazing Start
The Falcons continued to get off to incredible starts on Saturday morning. Messiah took an 8-0 lead just a little over 10 minutes into the contest. Of those eight goals, seven of them were from different players, with Abby Howard the lone Falcon to score a pair of goals.
 
Messiah would tack on five more goals in the opening half, with two more coming from different Falcons to give them nine different players finding the back of the net in the first half. Howard would go into the break with a hat trick.
 
Solid Second Half
Messiah would play a steady second half, after leading 13-2 at the break. They would outscore the Golden Wolves 6-1 in the final 30 minutes, with Emily Reisinger and Abigail Evans adding goals for the Falcons to give them 11 different goal scorers in the game.
 
The Falcons would come away with the dominant 19-3 victory to move to 9-0 on the season.

Of the 19 goals for Messiah, an impressive 14 of them were assisted on. Rachel Delate led the way with four assists, giving her 36 on the season. A trio of Falcons recorded two assists, while eight total players had an assist in the game.
