GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah men's lacrosse team dropped a home conference matchup against York College (Pa.), 20-4, on Wednesday night.

Jacob Fahnestock recorded 16 saves on the night, a season-high mark. The home loss drops Messiah's overall record to 2-5 (0-4 MAC Commonwealth).
The visiting Spartans got off to a fast start, leading 7-0 after the first quarter. Dylan Wolf scored first for York, scoring his 21st goal of the season. The Falcons got on the board with 5:49 remaining in the half when Honebrink tallied his seventh goal of the season, making it an 11-1 contest in favor of York. The visitors found the back of the net two more times before the half concluded, as Messiah trailed, 13-1, heading into halftime.
York continued its dominance in the second half, scoring two goals in the opening five minutes to increase its lead, 15-1. Jaloszynski notched his sixth goal of the season with 6:55 remaining in the third quarter, a tally assisted by
Sam Stone. The Falcons trailed, 15-2, as the Spartans tacked on two more goals before the conclusion of the third quarter.
The Falcons got on the board twice in the fourth quarter as Joyce found the back of the net with 6:48 remaining in the contest, trimming the deficit to 20-3. Messiah tacked on another goal with 1:40 left on the clock, scoring back-to-back goals for the first time in the game. Santangini provided the tally for the Falcons, assisted by Honebrink. The goal was Santangini's fourth of the season, as Honebrink recorded his second assist of the campaign.
Fahnestock's 16 saves was a career-high effort, topping his 12-save performance at Hood College during the 2019 season (Apr. 18). The Falcons were successful on 12 of 13 (92.3%) clear attempts in the loss, compiling a total of 36 ground balls.
James Myers recorded five ground balls, matching a game-high, also a career-high mark for the freshman midfielder.
