GRANTHAM, Pa. -Â The Messiah men's tennis team defeated the Eastern University Eagles 9-0 on senior day. The Falcons honored seniors
Andrew Bookman and
Galen Fitzkee before the match. With the win, Messiah finishes the regular season with a 6-3 overall record. They move onto the MAC Commonwealth tournament next week where they host the winner of No. 6 York and No. 3 Lebanon Valley in Grantham on Wednesday afternoon.
Doubles PlayÂ
The Falcons cruised in doubles play against the Eagles, only surrendering six games among the three matches.
Andrew Bookman and
Galen Fitzkee continued their solid doubles play with an 8-1 victory to finish 7-1 during the regular season in doubles.
Jonathan Baker and
Michael Niemi followed up the win with an 8-3 victory on court three before
Jarod Snader and
Connor Rose made it a clean 3-0 sweep with an 8-2 win on court two.
Singles Play
The Falcons swept the Eagles in every match in singles play. Bookman moved to 7-2 in singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory on court one before Fitzkee moved to 7-1 in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court two.
Jarod Snader stayed undefeated (9-0) in singles play with a 6-3, 6-2Â win on court three before
Connor Rose (6-1, 6-1),
Jonathan Baker (6-3, 6-1), and
Michael Niemi (6-2, 6-0) all won their respective matches.Â
With the sweep, Messiah won five of their nine regular season matches by a score of 9-0.
