Three Falcons Earn Conference Weekly Honor

ANNVILLE, Pa. – On Monday morning, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its weekly awards for the week ending on May 9. Brody Beiler and Esther Seeland, who each claimed respective MAC Track Athlete of the Year awards for their performances in the conference championship competition over the weekend, added to their stock of accolades by being named MAC Track Athlete of the Week. In addition, softball's Madison Walter claimed her second-consecutive MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week award behind 10.1 innings pitched in a Semifinals sweep of Alvernia University, propelling the Falcons to the MAC Commonwealth Championship series.
 
Men's Track & Field – MAC Track Athlete of the Week
 
Beiler was named the 2021 MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year for his performance at the conference championship. Beiler was a four-time All-MAC selection at the championship earning first-team honors in the 1,500-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. He earned second-team honors in the 10,000-meter run and third team honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Beiler won the 1,500m (3:58.69) and 5,000m (15:10.56) events. He took second in the 10,000m with a time of 31:33.91, and third place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:52.09. Beiler earns his first conference weekly award as a Falcon.
 
Women's Track & Field – MAC Track Athlete of the Week
 
Seeland earns her fifth conference weekly award of the season. Seeland led the Falcons to their fourth-consecutive MAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field title over the weekend, being named the 2021 MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year for her performances. Seeland was a four-time All-MAC selection, including first-team honors in the 800-meter run, 1,500-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay. She earned third-team honors in the 400-meter dash. Seeland won the 800m (2:13.91), 1,500m (4:40.19) and the 4x400m relay (3:58.20). She finished third in the 400m with a time of 57.35 seconds.
 
Softball – MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
 
Walter repeats as conference pitcher of the week for her fourth of the season. Walter tossed 10.1 innings in a doubleheader sweep of top-seeded Alvernia, advancing the Falcons to their 15th MAC Commonwealth Championship series in program history. Walter allowed just four hits while striking out 13 batters, improving her overall record to 11-5. Walter earned a pair of victories with a complete game-one-hit shutout in game one, tossing 3.1 shutout innings in relief in game two. She struck out 11 batters in her one-hit shutout. Walter, allowing opposing batters to bat a mere .167, has upped her season strikeout total to 106, pitching a conference-leading 113.0 innings.
