GLASSBORO, N.J. – Three Falcons competed in the Rowan Last Chance Meet on Thursday evening with
Brody Beiler,
Brendan Provan, and
Cera Gaston all in action in Glassboro. Beiler and Gaston both claimed first in their respective events with Beiler competing in the 1500 Meter and Gaston racing in the 5000 Meter.
Brendan Provan was looking to punch his ticket to the National Championships next weekend, but he was unable to improve his mark in the Triple Jump and looks to be on the wrong side of the National Qualifier bubble.
Â
As mentioned, Beiler finished first in the 1500 Meter with a time of 3:54.31 in the event. The time was his best in the event, shaving over three and a half seconds off his previous best time of 3:57.82 at the Dutchmen Invite on Apr. 17. Beiler won the event on Thursday by over a second, with Ramapo's Steven Fiumefreddo taking second with a time of 3:55.45.
Â
Gaston also won her race, taking first in the 5000 Meter with a mark of 18:39.07, nearly 30 seconds ahead of DeSales' Kayla Murawski (19:07.07), who took second place. Gaston was attempting to lower her personal best, but finished just a few seconds off her previous low of 18:34.28 from the MAC Championships from two weeks ago.
Â
Brendan Provan entered Thursday needing to top his previous top mark in the triple jump to ensure himself a spot at the National Championship next weekend in Greensboro. Provan fell shy of his 14.46-meter mark from York Twilight Meet on Apr. 1, with a distance of 14.11 meters on Thursday. As a result, he remains tied for the 19th furthest mark in the country in the triple jump. The top 17 marks are invited to Nationals, so Provan will hope for a few scratches in the event and find out tomorrow night if he is invited to Nationals. The final competitor lists are published at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night.
