GREENWOOD, Ind. - In mid-July, the 2020-21 Academic All-District teams were announced for men's and women's track & field and cross country by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Among the honorees were a pair of Falcons with
Esther Seeland picking up honors on the women's side and
Brody Beiler earning accolades on the men's team. Seeland and Beiler both earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships this past May, with Seeland claiming her second National Title in the 800 Meter.

As mentioned,
Brody Beiler is just a few months removed from an All-American finish in the 800 Meter at the National Championship Meet. Beiler ran a time of 1:54.09 in the finals to finish in sixth place. He put together a strong season in Grantham, earning All-Region honors in three different events, including the 800 Meter (1:51.45), 1500 Meter (3:54.31), and 10,000 Meter (31:18.06). In Messiah's all-time record book, Beiler is in the top-four in all three events as well as the 5,000 Meter with a time of 14:50.63. In the classroom, Beiler completed his first year in the Master's of Higher Education program, holding a 3.94 cumulative GPA.

With her second Academic All-District honor of the year,
Esther Seeland continues to add to her already very full mantle of accolades. Seeland already earned Second Team Academic All-American honors in women's soccer earlier this year, so this Academic All-District honor is the third of her career - second in track and field. Last year she was named a First Team Academic All-American in track and field. Seeland is quickly becoming one of, if not the most decorated student-athletes to ever go through Messiah. She earned her second National Championship in the 800 Meter, defending her title from 2019 with a time of 2:02.52, setting a new National Championship Meet record in the process. Nationally she held the top time in the 400 Meter (55.30) and 800 Meter (2:02.52) while also owning the third-fastest time in the 1,500 Meter (4:27.39). She did all of this while pulling double-duty and training with the National Champion Messiah women's soccer program as the starting center back. In the classroom, Seeland recently completed her junior year and holds a 3.99 cumulative GPA as a Biomedical Engineering.
