Hannah Olson highlighted the Falcons efforts on Sunday, earning a runner-up finish in the No. 6 singles bracket.
Rebekah Sheaffer (3) and
Rachel Dougherty (7) fell in their semifinal matchups early in the afternoon.
Sunday
In the No. 3 singles bracket,
Rebekah Sheaffer fell in her semifinal matchup to Cassidy Greenman of Wilkes, 2-6, 2-6 ending her run on Sunday. Sheaffer had a strong showing in the tournament this weekend despite the semifinal loss.
At No. 6 singles,
Hannah Olson won her semifinal match against Kaitlyn O'Neil of Wilkes, 6-2, 6-4. The championship featured the top seeds Juliette Marchisio of Stevens and
Hannah Olson of Messiah. In a tight first set that needed a tiebreak to decide it, Marchisio edged out Olson (10-8) in the tiebreak to take the first set 7-6. Marchisio closed out the scond set 6-2 to win the match and the championship 7-6(8), 6-2. Olson played well this weekend to earn her spot in the championship match.
At No. 7,
Rachel Dougherty lost her semifinal matchup to Wilkes's Sydney Farmer in a close 4-6, 3-6 battle. Dougherty also played well this tournament in the No. 7 singles bracket.

Saturday
Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Falcons competed competitively at the MAC Individuals Tournament on Saturday, Sept 11, playing doubles in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Lee/Kapchinske earned a runner up finish in the No. 4 doubles bracket for the Falcons. Messiah has three players in singles that advanced to the semifinals set for Sunday afternoon.
Rebekah Sheaffer (3),
Hannah Olson (6), and
Rachel Dougherty (7) all will face Wilkes in their respective brackets on Sunday.
Doubles
The Falcons played well in the first round of each bracket, winning their first matchups but losing their following match. At the No. 1 bracket, Kasi Conjack and Angela Tozzi won against Albright 8-2 in round one but fell to No. 1 seed Miseracordia 8-1 in round two.
Coming in ranked as the four seed in the No. 2 bracket, Rachel Marcroft and Rebekah Sheaffer won their first matchup against King's 8-3 but lost in round two 8-6 to LVC.
Hannah Murray and Sarah Fleming won their first match in the No. 3 bracket, beating Lycoming 8-5. They as well dropped their second match to Miseracorida 8-3.
Nicole Lee and Hannah Kapchinske played in the No. 4 doubles bracket which only had four total teams competing. After winning their semifinal matchup 8-0 against Arcadia, they dropped a close championship match 8-6 to DeSales.
Singles
At No. 1, Kasi Conjack lost in straight sets 0-6, 0-6 to Agatha Malinowski of Stevens, who was the two seed, in her first-round match.
At No. 2, Rachel Marcroft also lost in straight sets 1-6, 3-6 to Bailey Greco of DeSales, in her first-round match.
The Falcons found some success at the No. 3 singles bracket, with Rebekah Sheaffer advancing to the semifinals. She took down Lycoming's Emily Wolfgang 6-2, 6-2, and then upset Erin Weller of FDU-Florham, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Weller was the third seed in the bracket. Sheaffer now has a semifinal date with the two seed, Cassidy Greenman of Wilkes on Sunday.
At No. 4, Angela Tozzi won a thriller in her first-round match, knocking off the fourth seeded Margaret Kronkhite of FDU-Florham. Tozzi closed the door in the first set, winning 7-5 but needed a tiebreak in the second set to win the match. Tozzi won that tiebreak (7-5) to win the second and final set and the match 7-5, 7-6(5). Unfortunately, Tozzi was outmatched in her quarterfinal match against Miseracordia's Lydia Barbour and lost 0-6, 0-6.
At No. 5, Nicole Lee dropped her first-round match to York's Marrissey Walsh 4-6, 0-6.
Messiah found success again, this time at the No. 6 bracket with Hannah Olson advancing to the semifinals. Olson earned the two seed and a bye in the first round and then cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win in her quarterfinal match. She has a semifinal date with Kaitlyn O'Neil of Wilkes on Sunday.
At the No. 7 singles bracket, Rachel Dougherty earned her way into the semifinals on Sunday as well. Dougherty received a bye into the quarterfinals and won her quarterfinal matchup in a battle against Keely Ochs of Arcadia, 6-3, 6-4. Dougherty as well, has a semifinal date with Wilkes on Sunday, playing Sydney Farmer.
