ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its weekly Player of the Week awards for the week ending on Sept. 12 on Monday morning as two Falcons were honored with their first-career Player of the Week accolades.
Logan Horst (men's cross country) earned MAC Runner of the Week after finishing in second place overall (26:16) in the Dutchmen Cross Country Invite (8K) on Saturday, while
Catie Brubaker (field hockey) was honored with MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week after combining for eight total saves across two games last week, including a career-high seven saves in a road win (2-1, OT) at No. 2 Franklin & Marshall College.
Horst claims MAC Runner of the Week after earning a team-best mark in each of Messiah's two opening competitions of the season. While placing second overall in the competition, Horst led the Falcons to a first place finish out of 20 teams in the competition. Horst ran at an impressive split of 3:17/kilometer.
Brubaker is named MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week after facing a total of 11 shots in two games, totaling eight saves. Making seven saves in an overtime thriller on the road at the second-ranked team in the country, Brubaker led the Falcons to a 3-0 start to their season. Brubaker made a tremendous save with her right foot in the fourth quarter of a 2-1 loss to No. 5 Salisbury University on Saturday, keeping Messiah within a one-goal deficit. On the season, Brubaker has played all 249:42 in the cage for the Falcons.
