Grantham, Pa – The York College Spartans were able to handle Messiah late this evening and swept the Falcons 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-22). Mackenzie Feight had a team high six kills and 14 digs on the night. Messiah is back in action on Friday Sept. 24 when they host Juniata College at 7:00PM on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena.
 
York defeats Messiah 3-0
In a match where Messiah could not generate much offensively, York controlled the match and swept the Falcons 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-22) late Wednesday night. York used 40 kills, 49 digs and eight blocks on their way to the 3-0 win.
 
The Spartans came out strong in the first set, dominating the Falcons 25-13. Messiah played better and more competitive sets in sets two and three but could not hold off the strong York Squad losing the second set 25-18 and the third 25-22.
 
Stats
Mackenzie Feight led all Falcons with six kills, while Chayney Barnhart and Caitlin Lielbriedis chipped in with five and four kills respectively.
 
Emma Swartz led the team in assists with ten while Kristen Seibert had seven assists on the night.
 
Feight also had a team high 14 digs with Amanda Dahlman tallying ten.

The conference loss drops the Falcons record to 7-5 overall and a 2-1 conference record. Messiah will be back in action this weekend, when they host the Messiah Invitational. The Falcons will host Juniata on Sept. 24 at 7:00PM and then play two matches on Saturday Sept. 25 when they face SUNY Brockport and University of Mary Washington.
