CARLISLE, PA - In their only fall match of the season, the Messiah men's tennis team was outmatched against a Dickinson squad and fell 1-8.
Michael Niemi was the only win on the afternoon at No. 5 singles, winning 6-2, 6-4. The Falcons will take the winter off and prepare for the spring season.
Doubles
The Falcons were swept easily on the doubles courts and took an 0-3 deficit into singles. Wilson/Rose lost 2-8 on court one and that would be the closest contested doubles match on the day. Baker/Gingerich and Niemi/Stapp both lost 1-8 as the Falcons headed into singles play.Â
Singles
The Falcons managed one win on the afternoon and it was thanks to
Michael Niemi at the number five singles position. Niemi won 6-2, 6-4 and was in control most of the match. Wilson fell at number one singles 4-6, 3-6 while Rose lost 1-6, 1-6 at the number two position. At number three singles, Sell lost 0-6. 2-6 and Gingerich lost 3-6, 2-6. Finally, at number six singles Baker lost 1-6, 1-6 to cap off the afternoon for the Falcons.
