Falcons Fall Short to PSU Harrisburg Late on Tuesday Night

GRANTHAM, PA. - After trailing by four points at halftime, the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions proved to be too much for the Falcons, taking them down 59-48. The loss drops the Falcons record to 4-2 overall. Tyler Penley led Messiah with 14 points and added eight boards.

The Falcons will host York College on November 30, at 6:00 PM for their first conference game of the year.

Action
Messiah picked up an early lead at 14-9 with just over 12 minutes to go in the first half and then led 18-13 with 11 minutes to go. Penn State Harrisburg chipped away at that lead and ultimately took a 28-24 lead into the break. Three Falcons had six points in the half including Cuperus, Edwards and Lyles. The Falcons shot just south of 40% (39.3) from the field in the half while shooting 2-12 from beyond the arc. Both made threes were courtesy of Caleb Lyles.

In the second half, PSU Harrisburg opened up a seven point lead before Tyler Penley and Evan Parker drained two threes to bring the game to within one. The Falcons would tie the game multiple times and held a two point lead with just under ten minutes to go leading 41-40. The Nittany Lions put up eight straight points to take a 48-41 lead and would not surrender the lead again. The lead got up to 11 at 54-43 and then ultimately finished at an 11 point margin with Penn State Harrisburg winning 59-48.

Overall, the Falcons shot 39.2% from the field in the game and shot 24% from three going 6-25. Tyler Penley led the Falcons scoring 14 points and grabbed eight boards, which also led the team. Edwards added ten points and six rebounds in the game as well.

The loss drops the Falcons record to 4-2 on the year and will take a week off until their next game. The Falcons will host York College on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6:00 PM for a conference date with the Spartans, marking it their first conference game of the young season.
