No. 9 Franklin and Marshall Dominates Messiah

LANCASTER, PA – Messiah fell to the No. 9 nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall Diplomats on Saturday afternoon by a score of 18-5. F&M used ten goals in the first quarter to put away the Falcons early. Owen Joyce scored three goals on the afternoon for Messiah.
 
The Falcons will host King's College on March 2, at 7:00 PM for their first home game of the season.
 
F&M Dominate Early
The Diplomats scored ten goals in the first quarter to take a 10-0 lead going into the second quarter. Messiah finally got on the board in the second quarter with a goal from Nathan Branson to make the score 11-1 in favor of Franklin and Marshall. It would be the only goal of the half for the Falcons.
 
The Falcons found the back of the net again in the fourth quarter, scoring on four occasions. Owen Joyce connected on three of them while RJ Mellor added a goal to make the final outcome 18-5 F&M.
 
Stats
F&M out-shot Messiah 51-15 on the day. Messiah committed 25 turnovers to Franklin and Marshall's 19 and the Diplomats had 21 more ground balls (46-25) than Messiah. The Diplomats also had seven more faceoff wins than the Falcons (17-10)
 
As mentioned, Joyce led Messiah with three goals while Aaron Shaw and Sam Stone each had two assists. Corum McCuller had five ground balls and two caused turnovers while Ben Sheker also tied for a team high two caused turnovers.

Messiah drops to 0-2 on the year. The Falcons will host their first home match on March 2, at 7:00 PM when they face King's College.
