ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced the 2021-22 women's basketball All-MAC Commonwealth awards on Tuesday morning with Messiah graduate forward Leah Springer named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year for the third-consecutive season. Springer has helped lead the Falcons to a 23-3 (14-2 MAC Commonwealth) 2021-22 overall record, recording a double-double (22 points / 12 rebounds) in Messiah's 69-55 win over visiting Widener University on Sunday afternoon in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game.

In addition to being named Player of the Year, Springer was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team for the third time in her career. The All-Conference nod was the fourth of her career, being named to the Second Team during the 2017-18 season.

Springer leads the Falcons in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game, also a conference-best mark. The graduate forward was a phenomenal offensive presence the entire season, registering an impressive 15 double-doubles in 25 games. Springer started 25 games for the Falcons this year, recording double-digit scoring in all but two contests. She tallied a career-high 32 points in a 61-49 win at Albright College on Jan. 26.

After leading Messiah to its sixth-straight conference championship on Sunday, Springer was named MAC Commonwealth Tournament MVP for her efforts. As mentioned, Springer notched a double-double in the championship game, totaling 41 points and 38 rebounds across the three postseason contests.

In Messiah's recent 66-58 MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals victory over Alvernia University, Springer became the program's leading rebounder. Reeling in her 1,006th career rebound in the fourth quarter, Springer passed Alecia Rohrer's previous program-best rebound total of 1,005. In addition to breaking the program record in all-time rebounds, Springer enters the NCAA Tournament trailing the program leader in points by just 35 (Christina Vouriotis, career 1,802 points).
