GRANTHAM, Pa. – Leah Springer earned yet another accolade on Tuesday afternoon as D3hoops.com announced the graduate forward as Region 5 Player of the Year. Springer's Regional Player of the Year award is the third of her career, coming just weeks after being named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year for the third time of her career as well.

Springer helped to lead the Falcons to a 23-4 (14-2 MAC Commonwealth) overall record as the program captured its sixth-straight conference championship.

Starting in 26 games, Springer led the MAC Commonwealth in scoring (17.5 ppg). The graduate forward recorded double-doubles in all games started except three, tallying a career-high 32 points in a 61-49 road win at Albright College on Jan. 26.

In addition to a highly-productive offensive season, Springer led the Falcons in blocks (23). Rebounding at a team-leading mark of 11.1 boards per game, Springer became the program's all-time leading rebounder in Messiah's 66-58 MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals victory over visiting Alvernia University, reeling in her 1,006th career rebound in the fourth quarter. Springer finishes second all-time in program in total points scored (1,777).

With her third-straight Regional Player of the Year honor, Springer is eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be released on Saturday, March 19.
