AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its 2021-22 Academic All-America women's basketball selections on Tuesday afternoon as graduate forward
Leah Springer earned a First Team honor for the second-consecutive season. Springer, a member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership program, currently holds a 4.0 GPA during the 2021-22 academic year, becoming just the fourth of 15 Academic All-America selections to have a 4.0 GPA.
The announcement comes just one day after the graduate forward was named D3hoops.com Regional Player of the Year for the third-straight season.
Earning a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an undergraduate (economics), Springer helped to lead the Falcons to their sixth-straight MAC Commonwealth Championship this season. In her 26 games, Springer led the MAC Commonwealth in points per game (17.5) while posting double-doubles in 23 contests.
Academically, the graduate forward receives a First Team selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team for the second time in her career, just the fourth player in program history to receive the academic accolade. During the 2021 season, the graduate forward also claimed CoSIDA Academic All-District honors while being named to the Academic All-MAC squad. In the 2019-20 campaign, Springer was recognized as a MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete with her 3.97 cumulative GPA.
